Katie Sachs

Embedded Clinician

Katie received her master’s degree from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She also has a background in massage therapy and became a licensed massage and bodywork therapist (LMBT) in 2016 after attending A New Beginning School of Massage in Austin, TX. Katie brings a somatic perspective to her clinical work, understanding the importance of the mind-body connection to healing, especially from a trauma-informed perspective. Katie did her clinical internship at a local recovery center in Asheville and worked with individuals struggling with substance use disorders. She also has a background working with youth coming out of the foster care system, both as a case manager and Youthserve AmeriCorps member.

In addition to her experience in therapeutic practices, Katie is also a musician and a writer. When appropriate and beneficial to the client, she can integrate evidence-based expressive arts therapies, such as Narrative Therapy and Sand tray therapy, into our work together.

After the devastation of Hurricane Helene, Katie felt a strong desire to “help the helpers” who were doing so much for the community by being on the front lines. She has the utmost respect and appreciation for our local police, firefighters, EMT’s, etc. who put themselves in harm’s way every day for the benefit of others. It is an honor to have the opportunity to support our brave first responder community.
